Feeling Hot Hot Hot!
Schools out and summer has arrived along with record high temperatures and heat advisories in June. Our sailing programs will continue to run but here are a few tips to help manage the heat for your sailor.
1. Combat dehydration by drinking plenty of water before, during and after sailing. Be sure to bring your water bottle.
2. Wear loose-fitting clothing, preferably of a light color & your bathing suit – WE WILL SWIM DAILY to keep cool.
3. Avoid caffeine.
4. If you’re wearing a cap or hat, remove it and pour a bit of ice cold water into the hat, then quickly invert it and place on your head. Ahh…
There are multiple ice coolers at the yacht club and down at the facility for students to refill their water bottles. We will also take breaks in the shade, swim daily and if severe will head inside. If you have any other questions, please let us know. Stay cool!
