A Note From Our Executive Director
I wanted you all to know that after 16 years in my current role as Executive Director and an even longer career in the industry I have tenured my resignation. I am forever grateful for the relationships and friends I’ve made over the years. I want to thank our sailing community – our supporters, participants, volunteers, staff – EVERYONE – for making this a memorable chapter in my life. A few highlights of my career have been growing our revenue through fundraising events, rebranding our organization, deepening community engagement, tripling our fleet of boats all while building and offering new and exciting programs. My favorite programs have been collaborating with area nonprofits to serve underprivileged youth, Camp Cool, high school sailing and launching WOW {Women on the Water} and Guppy Sailing. Charleston Community Sailing is poised for continued growth and I hope you’ll be a part of its success moving forward.
A few weeks ago we sent out an external survey as we are in the midst of a strategic planning process to define our future direction and what we are looking for in a new leader. Thank you for your feedback and helping to shape the future of our organization. I will help with the transition and in the meantime we have a solid interim plan in place to continue to provide safe and quality programs. At our board meeting we discussed that over the years I have influenced 16,000 people through our programming – lucky me to have connected with so many over the years! In honor of my 16 years and the sailors whom I’ve impacted we want to continue to expand our impact and raise $16,000 to support the organization moving forward. I hope to see you at our upcoming event on November 20th and on the water in the future!
